    No sounds on iPod Hi-Fi

One of my friend is having iPod Hi-Fi since last 8 months that has never created any problem but yesterday it suddenly stopped its sound output. We can see that track is playing but there is no output.

Now, as it is no more under warranty, i request you guys to please suggest some troubleshooting steps that can fix this issue. Thanks in advance...

Re: No sounds on iPod Hi-Fi

As you said your iPod Hi-Fi is just 8 months old, it is still under warranty. iPod Hi-Fi is covered for one year by Apple’s One-Year Limited Warranty. Warranty service for eligible repairs is available at no charge for 12 months from the date of original retail purchase. So i'll suggest you to take it to the authorized workshop to avoid its remaining warranty.

Anyways, there are some tips that you can and hope they can fix this issue. First of all remove iPod and any device attached to the audio input port on the iPod Hi-Fi. Verify batteries are installed correctly (check positive (+) and negative (–) terminals are positioned correctly). Note: All six batteries are not inserted the same direction. If available try different batteries.

Verify the batteries are not expired. Insert the batteries positioning the positive (+) and negative (–) terminals on the batteries as shown below. All six batteries are not inserted the same direction. Instead the batteries are divided into two sets of three batteries. If available verify batteries work on another device. When not in use, your iPod Hi-Fi enters a low-power standby mode to save battery life. However, if you don’t plan to use your iPod Hi-Fi for an extended period, you may wish to remove the batteries to extend battery life even longer.

Also make sure that volume is not turned down all the way by using the iPod controls and is not paused by pressing Play/Pause on the remote or on iPod.

If there is no more sound output than just reset the iPod Hi-Fi by removing the AC cord and all six batteries, waiting five seconds, and then connecting power. If the problem still exist than take your iPod Hi-Fi to an AASP or retail Apple Store near you. For certain repairs, you may be able to order a replacement part online that will resolve the issue. To determine if a part is right for you, read through the relevant troubleshooting articles on the Troubleshooting and How-to page. If an article determines that a part will fix your issue, click the link to order the part online.

I think updating your ipod software can fix the over all problems of your iPod. Verify your iPod is running the latest version of the iPod Software . To do so:-

    • Press the Menu button repeatedly until you see the Main menu.
    • Scroll to and then select Settings.
    • Scroll to and then select About.
    • The software version of your iPod will be listed on this screen.

Either, if your warranty has expired, you still have access to all available service options, but you will be responsible for the cost of service, including parts, labor, shipping (if any), and applicable taxes.
